Managing your diabetes and diabetic retinopathy

It's no secret that all forms of healthcare, not just diabetes treatments, are expensive. This barrier of access to health insurance and care prevents many people from receiving treatment and help with managing their diabetes and diabetic retinopathy.

We've compiled here a list of some resources we've found that can help lower this barrier. The health and medical resources listed here are free-of-cost, or on a sliding scale system.  If you have any additional resources you'd like to share that are not included in this website, please email us at coachellavalleygroup1@gmail.com

Eisenhower Health Diabetes Program

Eisenhower Medical Center has a diabetes program that provides both group and individual educational classes and lectures about managing diabetes. Depending on the type of instruction, there might be certain insurance requirements, Eisenhower offers free classes about diabetes that are open to the community throughout the year. Spanish speaking educators are also available.

These classes and lectures are led by registered nurses, dieticians, and other health care professionals who have experience with working with diabetic patients. They offer support programs for people who are diabetic, their loved ones and caretakers, and for teens/tweens.
