WHAT IS DIABETIC RETINOPATHY ?


Diabetic Retinopathy is a diabetes complication that affects eyes, caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eyes.
It is the most common & leading cause for blindness in the United States.
There are two types of Diabetic Retinopathy:
Non-Proliferative and Proliferative.


Future Physician Leaders PROGRAM BACKGROUND
Future Physician Leaders Program (FPL) is a summer mentorship program for healthcare students who are driven to fulfill a mission of service to the community. Dr. Raul Ruiz built the foundation of the FPL mentorship program and has been recognized as a pathway program at UCR School of Medicine that aims to prepare Inland Southern California Students to become physician leaders in the community.
